Float Switches

Float switches provide level monitoring for virtually any liquid and are designed to operate in adverse conditions.

They are supplied as a compact, sealed unit. Their rugged construction means that they can cope with vibration, hazardous chemical debris and hostile weather.

Applications include depth monitoring, valve, pump and flow control, maintaining liquid levels and preventing overflow or pump cavitation.

Our Float Switches are supplied under the trade name 'Level Devil'. They offer a dependable method of level monitoring and control in virtually all liquids without the need to use complex invasive procedures and provide accurate results even in adverse conditions. The rugged construction will cope with vibration, hazardous chemicals, debris and hostile weather and can be used in closed vessels or outdoors.

They are non-invasive sealed units, suitable for use in foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals and chemicals, where products must be protected from contamination, electrolysis, oxidation, radiation sources or magnetic fields, which may be present with other monitoring systems.

Installation is easy. The system will provide many years of trouble free continuous level monitoring. There is no complex equipment to service or repair and the float is unaffected by viscosity, grease, hazardous or explosive gases or other vapours, dust or sludge, electro-magnetic effects, or aggressive chemicals.

Switching is highly effective, yet simple with either a ball bearing moving within a tube or a mercury switch . The sensor is enclosed in a weighted float chamber, which usually floats horizontally, with both high and low circuits open. When the liquid level changes the float tilts causing a switch to close and indicate if the level is rising or falling.

The switch activates at 20° above or below horizontal.

SPECIFICATION

The switch is totally enclosed in polystyrene foam within an outer casing of moulded Hypalon for additional protection. Points of attachment have O ring seals with specially formulated Hypalon adhesive. Connecting three core cables are sheathed in Elastolan and are available up to 20 metres in length.
